Project Outline
A miniaturized but robust reference/calibration unit for swarms of air quality sensors. The proposed AIREFUNITS system applies an open-path technology that allows for the scanning of large areas for air quality concern, requiring limited re-calibration [less maintenance]. Because it is portable and can operate as a closed system, it allows for localised precise measurements/monitoring of atmospheric gases, such as trace pollutants, and as a reference/calibration unit for other networks of sensors. As a consequence, the unit can be readily re-located to other regions to act as a reference unit for other networks of sensors and or as a scanner for large areas of air quality concern. These make them attractive to low-resource regions, representing value for money.
